A Tribute to the Behind the Scenes DBKC Family
Wow! It’s hard to believe my unique and captivating comedy short film, Death by King Cake, is one year old!
Since its release in July of 2023, Death by King Cake has been on a winning streak, bagging over 70 nominations and wins at film festivals across the nation. The entire cast and crew have all won and have been nominated, a testament to their hard work, dedication, and talent.
I am deeply grateful for our production team’s unwavering dedication and hard work. It’s been an honor to work with every one of you. I’m excited about the future and the magic we will continue to create together.
Janssen Swent, our Director/Editor, wore many hats during this production. It’s hard to believe that Death by King Cake was this gifted young man’s first comedy to direct. We’re eagerly anticipating Janssen’s next masterpiece, A Bird In The Hand, which he will start shooting next month.
Travis Myers, our Cinematographer/Editor, was responsible for the remarkable camera work. He created the title graphics out of king cake icing. Travis has his own company, Bronco Media. Check out his brilliant work at bronco.media.
Penny Leleux, our Producer/Script Supervisor, dedicated 110% of her time to ensuring everything ran smoothly. This fantastic woman also played the award-winning Powerhouse Penny in the film. Penny’s accomplishments and future projects are on her Facebook page, Barefoot Director.
Doug Underwood, our Producer/Assistant Camera, went above and beyond to make shooting this comedy a considerable success. Check out Doug’s work on his Facebook page, Fresh Productions.
Other brilliant crew members who are the best at what they do are Dan Forest (Hair and Makeup Artist), Aaron Thomas (Sound), Sebastian Delgado (Lighting and Gaffer), Sam Litten (Production Assistant), and Crystal Snider (Graphic Artist.)
