LOL JAX Film Festival

I’m still on a beautiful high from attending my all-time favorite festival, The LOL JAX Film Festival.

First, I thank Brandon Masters, a Jacksonville, Florida resident and the Associate Producer of Death by King Cake, Brandon and his wife, Danielle, and their three sons, Aidan, Ethan, and Brennan, are my family. I always name a character after one of the Masters Brothers.

A huge thank you goes to Adam & Monique Madrid, Jacksonville’s powerhouse couple in the local arts community. The Madrids are the creators of the LOL JAX Film Festival, Adam and Monique are the parents, and their children are the hundreds of brilliant filmmakers and artists in Duval County. Writing about all they do for the local art community would take several pages. Please check out the LOL JAX website at LOLJAX.com or like the LOL JAX Film Festival on Facebook.

A vital member of my Jacksonville, Florida, Family is Jenn Weeks! I met this brilliant comedian in 2019 when she was hosting the LOL JAX Film Festival. She has hosted the festival for the past seven years. When I saw her perform, I instantly knew I wanted her to be in one of my comedy short films - and she was! Jenn played Jackie Green, a comedienne in my 2020 film, A Stand for Damaged Fame, and was perfect for this character! She was nominated and won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Jackie Green in several nationwide film festivals! I plan on working with this gifted, funny lady for a future project. Check out Jenn’s website at JennWeeks.com.

Between the awards, nominations, the Madrids, Jenn Weeks, and the extraordinary films created by Jacksonville’s Best, the 7th Annual LOL JAX Film Festival was a celebration I’ll never forget.

And as a bonus to this magical weekend, Death by King Cake received several nominations and awards at LOL After Hours Awards, which can be found on the TTIF Show. This fantastic show is on YouTube and hosted by Durden Godfrey and Tauren J. Royal, accomplished filmmakers and best friends. If you’re a film lover, I highly recommend you join their YouTube channel at youtube.com/@TTFTShow or check out their website at TTFT.live.

Cheers to the film and to family!
